Cab Confessions

Cab Confessions

Two strangers between a truth and a lie

Inspired by Jim Jarmusch’s "Night on Earth", "Cab Confessions" is a fully improvised dramatic theatre performance discovering a taxi as a highly intimate place. A driver and a passenger meet coincidentally and most likely never see each other again. This creates an uncommon space of intimacy amongst strangers. Both can safely touch and reveal parts and corners of their lives which usually remain carefully protected – without the fear of consequences.

As the conversation between the two emerges, crucial experiences are touched, come to the fore, take the full stage and fade away. That leaves them both with a physical and emotional journey either inspired, devastated, touched, sad or hopeful as they step back into their ordinary lives. The show investigates and explores those hidden places of our lives which will be played out in front of the audience, inside and outside the taxi.

Raw, emotional, and authentic

A wonderful exploration of life and feelings through a cab ride. Ralf and Stefan had so much rapport between them and blended the different parts of the piece into a seamless emotional dance. For me personally, it is very touching to witness two men exploring and sharing their emotions with the audience in a raw and authentic way. They take the audience on a ride through time, space, and emotion.

cute, brutally honest and gentle

I loved seeing elderly Mexican men with cute wrinkels sharing space and opening up to each other.
Ralf and Stefan shared very vulnerable parts of their characters and displayed an absolutely non-stereotypical kind of manhood – which was very impressive to witness. Seeing them unfold their lives and relations with all their honesty and sensitivity left me gasping for air twice.
I want to see more Cab Confessions !

Don`t miss this precious piece of theatre

Congratulations and thank you for this beautiful show about two strangers – touching and vulnerable.
We are completely blown away. You took us with you in the cab, in the grandmothers house and into the passengers head. A very beautiful moment of theatre about tiny little threads of connection we weave and throw out into the world every day, hoping that somebody would pick them up. 🕸
